Here's a wonderful testimony we received from an opposing team's mother. We defeated her son's team 47 - 12, and they still felt we were the "nicest kids" they played. Go CCA Eagles! Go God!

Dear Kirk,

I wanted to write you about the game your team played against my son's team (Ransom Everglades). This season our team played several "Christian" schools in which bad sportsmanship conduct became the norm. I can not tell you how pleased I was to hear from my son that your school was different. Having gone to a Christian school (which we do not play), I had grown tired of hearing from my son that the Christian schools we were playing were full of junkies on the field. I asked my son how Calvary Christian was different and he gave me the example of when he hit the QB and the QB said "way to go #72, keep it up". I also spoke with several other Ransom players who said the same thing, that your school had the nicest kids on the field. So, way to go Coach, keep it up!! You restored my faith in how a True Christian school should behave.

Wake up!

Last week at the CCA High School chapel, Bible teacher David Collins implored the students to wake up. "We do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places." (Ephesians 6:12-13) He shared that Satan in crouching at our doorstep waiting to devour us.

So, what can we do? Mr. Collins encouraged all Christians to go on the attack. "For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ." (2 Corinthians 10:4-5)

What are these weapons of our warfare? Prayer and the Word of God equip us for battle. Put on the armor of God and proclaim the name of Jesus, to whom every knee will bow and tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord.

My plea today is that all players, coaches, parents, and administrators prepare for the spiritual battle this week. May we unite as children of the King to pull down strongholds, cast down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, and bring every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ. Amen.

Get in the game!

Well, another school year is upon us, and boy did God ever bless us. Pastor Bob said to expect the unexpected, but when I tell you that the ministry of athletics at Calvary Christian Academy keeps growing and reaching even higher levels of excellence, it is more than I ever dreamed, thought, or imagined.

Last year's success on the field and in the gym was record breaking including our first ever state championships. Calvary Field, our new turf field and track, is about to be completed for the first home football game on September 2. We merged with FLCS giving us access to 10 more acres of land allowing us to expand our athletic fields even further and gives us a regulation gym to play in (and all the basketball families said, Amen). Scores of new students have enrolled at CCA with many of them being quality athletes. I am overwhelmed by God's love and faithfullness.

We all have heard the verse in Luke 12:48 that says "to whom much is given, from him much will be required; and to whom much has been committed, of him they will ask the more." We at CCA Athletics have been given so much. So, my challenge to myself and the rest of the families is this, "Are we ready to give back?"

Are we ready to present ourselves as living sacrifices in support of a ministry that trains up Godly men and women to impact the next generation for Christ? JV girls basketball team displays excellence-spirtually, academically, and socially

The JV girls basketball team beat American Heritage Plantation 46-42 on Saturday. The girls came back from a 30-13 deficit and pulled out the win to improve to 10-1. CCA coach Sean Fryer expressed his appreciation and remained focused on the teams goals, "We were able to pray with them after the game and for one of the girls who hurt her ankle". Calvary JV hoops doing well

The Calvary Christian Academy Eagles girls’ junior varsity basketball team has one focus this season - excellence. That means excellence in all aspects of their lives, not just basketball.
At the beginning of the season, Coach Sean Fryer gave all the girls a goal sheet, and they had to write down their academic, home, social, basketball and spiritual goals for the season.
“I plan on holding each of these girls to the goals they wrote down,” Fryer said.
With an average scoring differential of 21 points per game, the Eagles (6-1) are led by freshman point guard and team captain Jessica Kreisel (14 points per game) and team co-captain Faith Nazario, a defensive specialist. Both have contributed on the JV and varsity teams.
In their JV absence, other players stepped up.
"I’m so proud of all of my girls,” Fryer said. “We try to have excellence in all we do and honor God through that. Matthew 5:16 says to ‘let your light shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in Heaven,’ and that is what we try to do.”

Leadership

I've just returned from the National Athletic Directors Conference in Orlando, FL with stacks of materials, pages of notes from inspirational speakers, and a renewed spirit about the impact athletics has on today's students and ultimately our future leaders. In the opening session, Pat Williams laid out the 7 qualities of a leader - Someone who has a clear vision, can communicate well (and listen well), someone who genuinely loves peoples, has strong character, is competent, gets results, is bold and can make decisions, all with a serving heart. He says children get their first exposure to the art of leadership when they participate in athletics and it's our job as coaches/directors to make sure it's a positive experience.

It was such a privilege to be a part of this very informative weekend. I took two courses for educational development. One was called, "Athletic Administration: Principles, Strategies, and Methods" and the other was "Legal Issues I: Risk Management". Other workshops included "Developing the Credible Coach", "Conducting Successful and Informative Parent Meetings", and "Specialization vs. Multi-Sport Participation".

Why am I so amped up about the conference? Well, God tells us in 2 Peter 1:5 to add to our faith virtue, and to virtue knowledge. So, when I can find better ways to teach our athletes, coaches, and parents through better communication and relationships, I can't wait to share my excitement. Stop by the athletic office to hear more as we co-labor to build the next generation of leaders together.

Peace

John MacArthur writes in The Quest for Character,

"...peace is the tranquility of a soul who finds rest in Him."

Many of us, especially during the holidays, try to find peace by getting the perfect gift, decorating the house just so, staying caught up at work, remaining ultra organized, staying in shape, eating the right foods, or dozens of other external do's and dont's. But, true peace, like salvation, comes from faith, not by our own efforts.

How does this relate to athletics? Knowing peace is a gift from God (John 14:27) and the peace of God will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:6-7), an athlete can be freed up to perform without fear. Winning games or practicing until perfect will not bring you peace. As a matter of fact, high levels of success often lead to an empty feeling and just adds to pressure to repeat the performance.
This Christmas, this season, find rest in Him. Your soul longs for a relationship with the Prince of Peace, the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

God keeps His promises

The rainbow reminds us of God's promise to never flood the earth again. What miracles in your life remind you of God's faithfulness? The email below encouraged me that being obedient to Christ's call is as exciting as a double over-time victory.

What a game Thursday afternoon between the Calvary Christian Academy Eagles and American Heritage Delray! Both teams gave their all, leading to a double overtime playoff. The Eagles blocked their extra point and then scored a touchdown and the extra point for the win. The best part of the game, though, was watching our boys pray with The Delray team after the game. Looking on, you are amazed to see these boys sharing Christ and praying with their opponents. When my son got in the car he said that four kids prayed to receive Christ! That is what I call an incredible victory! Looking over at the field we noticed a rainbow, and I thought what a blessing. Our school, our football team is part of God’s plan to share Christ and win the lost. And this happened after an intense, exciting, competitive football game. Awesome! I also wanted to say how really blessed our school is to have such an incredible and dedicated football coaching staff! God has put together an amazing team of men to coach our boys! Way to go CCA! CCA Parent

And, had the CCA Eagels lost, the joy and fulfillment would have been the same because no one remembers a football score a year from now. But, the boys that asked Jesus into their heart, their lives will be changed for all eternity.

On Saturday, the CCA Eagles middle school football team finally got to play their first football game. They traveled out west to face the Patriots of American Heritage Plantation. It was an epic battle between two big (AHP was very big), hard hitting teams. While both teams made their advances near the end zone, the Patriots were the only team who managed to cross the goal line. The game ended 6 - 0.

But, as hard fought and physical as this game was, it was the spiritual battle that brought both teams to their knees in the middle of the field after the game. Jameson Offerdahl, CCA's middle linebacker, stood in front of both teams and shared the CCA football team creed.

Through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the cross I have a relationship with God. As a man I have put away childish things and I choose to represent that relationship at all times.

I am confident the Patriot players, coaches, and parents were elated by the win and may have expected from CCA a short post game prayer before running off to celebrate. But, for an 8th grader to step up and share his teams' creed with the opposing team right after the game and ask them to let him know if they had any questions about their own relationship with Jesus, it makes you (it made me) stop and ponder.

To all of the parents in the stands, it displays love and a commitment that regardless of the outcome, we will honor God. It shows that Jameson and his teammates have truly chosen to represent Jesus Christ "at all times". It shows that discipleship in athletics IS the focus and it's having an impact on our community.

And it begs the question, who do we need to tell?

Missionary with a Major League Arm

What do Baseball Hall-of-Fame inductee Nolan Ryan, the 43rd President of the United States George W. Bush, and Grammy Award Winner Taylor Swift, and all have in common? All of these famous celebrities have had their picture taken with Calvary Christian Academy alumnus Luke Jackson.

Luke, who last year led the CCA Eagles to the 2A Regional Quarterfinals by going 8-1 with 96 strikeouts and an earned run average of 0.90, signed a contract with the Texas Rangers that included a $1,545,000 bonus. So, meeting Mr. Ryan, the current owner of the Texas Rangers and President Bush, the past owner of the Texas Rangers, was a special privilege for their first-round pick. But, the picture capturing him getting a peck on the cheek from Taylor Swift, well, let’s just say that’s “par for the course” in the life of Luke Jackson.

Luke is a unique individual that excels in just about any sport. He’s won a two-man beach volleyball tournament, he was First Team All-County in soccer, and he hits the golf ball as far as anyone on the professional golfer’s tour (just ask him).
But, what really sets Luke Jackson apart is his relationship with the Lord Jesus, his love for his family, and his heart for others. Behind the long hair, laid back approach, and the black-and-white checkered shoes and matching backpack, is a genuine “class act”. Luke is friendly, fun-loving, and compassionate.

Benefiting from spending time on the mission field and being led by parents who diligently taught him the Bible, Luke learned at a young age what it meant to live, to give, and to serve in obedience to Christ’s command. When asked about what he would do with his signing bonus, he responded that he would like to build schools in remote areas of the world and continue the mission work that inspired him as a child.

Who knew Luke Jackson, caught on television at a Florida Marlin’s game dressed in a bright orange Spandex body suit dancing on the seats, was a tender hearted, Spirit-filled missionary, who, o yeah, throws a baseball 96MPH.

Is today the Day?

In sports, there's a saying that on "any given day" a team or an individual has the opportunity for victory. Let's look at a few sayings that accentuate just how much power and promise a day can hold.

This is the day the LORD has made; We will rejoice and be glad in it (Psalm 118:24). Be very thankful for the gift of another day.
Our day will come. We may have lost to Pine Crest this year, but the Facebook post from Shawn Lashbrook and the response from Rod Pearcy show that character is shaped by adversity.
"Ya live and ya learn. Tough loss, but we will go at this week in practice and get better. Learn our lessons and improve."
"When faced with adversity, great players redeem themselves by being great leaders. The only real score that will be remembered is that 3 were added to the kingdom...great job Shawn."
And, for those three Pine Crest players and coaches, they're day of salvation did come when they accepted Jesus as Lord and Savior through prayer after the game.
Exhort one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approching (Hebrews 10:25). The Day is coming. King Jesus' return is fast approaching. Our life may end before His return, but either way, soon and very soon, we will be in His presence. May I join with the author of Hebrews and implore you, Today, if you will hear His voice, Do not harden your hearts.

The day has a lot to offer. It may be a chance to play better, run faster, jump higher than you ever have before. But today may also be the first time you heard a call from the Lord to join into a personal relationship with Him. Or, it may be today you are being challenged by the Lord to be obedient with the day He has provided. Whatever today is for you, embrace it with all your heart. Accept the challenge of competition, accept the free gift of eternal life, accept the call to obedience and experience the power and promise a day can bring.

Great is Thy faithfulness!

1 Thessalonians 4:3 says, "For this is the will of God, your sanctification..." Sanctification is the purifying work of the Holy Spirit that makes us more like Jesus. It happens through the reading of the Word, through worship, through teaching, and through fellowship. But, sanctification also takes place during tests, trials, and tribulations. Remember, it's how we react to an opportunity or challenge that determines how much or how little our actions and attitude are like Christ.

This week at CCA we had many opportunities to see God work in us and through us. But Friday, was one busy day.

At 7:30 AM... I had to inform a dad that his two sons were ineligible for the entire football season. Due to an FSHAA rule on when forms needed to be turned in, the boys could not play. I told him we would see what we could do, and he and the family should pray to see what God would do.

10:30 AM... Chapel time on Friday's at CCA. Pastor Bob declared God has a place, pace, and purpose for every student. Some are called to academics, some to music or drama, some to athletics, the point is God's place, pace, and purpose should be respected and encouraged by all. He concluded by saying pastors, teachers, and coaches are there to come along side and help students reach their goal, not the goal others may have had in mind for them, but the life God has prepared.

11:00 AM... A coach hustling to get the field ready for the afternoon football game flips his golf cart and is thrown from the seat and lands on the pavement. He's pretty banged up, but he manages to complete his work. Thank God he wasn't more seriously hurt and kudos to this individual who's heart and determination give us a glimpse at what it means to be "set-apart", serving no one else but the Lord.

After lunch it got even busier. But, let me tell you... God is FAITHFUL. Our prayers and dependence on Him brought us closer to the Lord. Friday's football game was excellent. Great play and after the game great conversations about what God is doing in athletics and who Jesus is, to which two players from the other team asked about starting their own relationship with Christ.

Then, on Sunday, the FHSAA said they would give us some latitude and granted the two boys their eligibility. Great is Thy faithfulness, morning by morning new mercies I see!

One of the hardest days of my life

I thought dropping Adam off at college would be no big deal. There was nothing presumably difficult about unpacking the car, setting up his dorm room, and buying the neccessary supplies. But when it came time to say good-bye, I could no longer hold back the emotions. He was about to begin his life on his own, and it made my heart break. Not because he wasn't ready, but because his brother, sister, mom, and I would miss having him at home. He was an incredible help around the house, sure, but it was his character that made everything so enjoyable.

I am so proud of the man Adam has become. He loves Jesus, he loves his family, and he loves others. He will major in Accounting, but he will learn about LIFE at the University of Florida... at football games, in the library, doing laundry, riding his bike, and attending church and small groups with his friends. He's been looking forward to this opportunity for scholastic advancement and a chance to "test" his knowledge and his walk.

God Himself has promised to sanctify him through and through until the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and to be with him always. The Word of God has been poured into him the last 8 years by the pastors and teachers at Calvary Chapel Fort Lauderdale and Calvary Christian Academy. We have prayed and prayed and prayed for him, with him, and with others, and have given him all the advice a young man heading to college could possibly absorb.

So, why am I so sad? I don't know.

All I can do is to continue to pray that God will fill him with the knowledge of His will and that he may walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him, being fruitful in every good work.

Why do we love sports so much? Is it because hard work and discipline usually pay off? Is it because sometimes the underdog wins? Is it because it takes enormous skill to play at the highest levels?
It may be all of those, but do you know why I really love sports? Because athletic competition forges Godly character. Athletics has a way of bringing out what's really in your heart. If it's a good attitude, praise the Lord. If it's a bad attitude, coaches and parents get a chance to rebuke, correct, and encourage so a character transformation can take place.

It's not how good you play or how bad you play, it's not about winning or losing, it's not about the college you can get into if you're really good... it's about how you react to your performance, it's about your attitude about the outcome of the game, it's about the impact you can have on any college campus for Christ!

Becoming more Christlike through Athletics is a relentless pursuit of excellence. It's about making corrections and adjustments, it's about working harder so the next time it might be different. It's about heart, integrity, and perseverence. It's about reflecting Christ!

"We are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us: we implore you on Christ's behalf, be reconciled to God." In 2 Corinthians 5:20, Paul reminds us that our relationship with the Lord needs to be genuine because we represent Christ. Our attitude and our actions have eternal ramifications. At Calvary Christian Academy, we take that charge very seriously.

Every event, every class, and every game is about one thing... learning about God's love and sharing God's love with others. Do we reflect Christ?

As we draw near to the end of the school year, we begin to reflect on what was accomplished in athletics. Did we prepare students to glorify God spiritually, academically, and socially? Are the student-athletes more like Christ in attitude and action? Did they acheive their absolute best? Have we been obedient to our calling, not with eyeservice, as men-pleasers, but as bondservants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart? (Note: A bondservant is "a person bound to service without wages", a disciple of Christ compelled by God's love to love and serve others).

By the grace of God, the answer to "Was this year a success?" is yes! Players and coaches effectively sharing the gospel and bringing others to Christ, games played as "outreach", and discipleship plans that included weekly teaching from Calvary Chapel pastors and a missions trip to North Africa are just a few opportunities that "set us apart" spiritually. Athletes that will attend Dartmouth, University of Florida, University of Miami, and Liberty University, and All-Academic nominations are just a few stories that bring God the glory academically. And, to list the acheivements athletically, I'll leave that for the newspapers, website, and award shows. That said, make plans to attend the Varsity Sports Awards on May 11th at the Calvary Chapel Theater to celebrate the "perfect season" and honor the Perfect Coach in heaven, our Lord Jesus Christ.

"Making Disciples" though athletics is what we do. Success is measured by the growth of a team's character, not by the number of wins. Our preparation, our attitude, our effort, our response to adversity, and our humility in victory need to reflect Christ...at all times!

One in Heart and Faith with 2009 Rookie of the Year Chris Coghlan

On March 19th, coach Chris Lane and the CCA middle school baseball team went to the Florida Marlins spring training game in Jupiter. After the game, the CCA team, coaches, and a few parents enjoyed a lasagna dinner at the spring training home of Brett Carroll and Rookie of the Year Chris Coghlan. Both Marlin players shared about their relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ and encouraged the young players to work hard, be strong, and remain steadfast in their faith.

What a great model...professional athletes, gifted by God, called to share their time, treasure, and testimony with the next generation, and "making disciples" of Jesus Christ by speaking the truth about baseball and life.

Hearing about playing in the "big leagues" and watching swing mechanics on the laptop was quite a thrill for 6th, 7th, and 8th graders. Knowing they have the same Savior and are one in heart and faith with "BC" (Brett Carroll) and R.O.Y. (Rookie of the Year Chris Coghlan)...priceless.

Building Blocks of a Building Program

CCA is embarking on a massive endeavor to upgrade our athletic facilities to the highest standards by the 2012 - 2013 school year. This is a strategic initiative that will not only motivate the top local Christian athletes to attend CCA, but also inspire athletes from around the country to visit and share in genuine God-honoring competition. Premier athletic facilities along with high academic standards will compliment CCA's mission to "Make Disciples" for the next generation.

There are a few building blocks that are foundational to our building program. The first is a prayerful spirit. Acts 6:4 says, "we will give ourselves continually to prayer and to the ministry of the word." Philipians 4:2 says, "Be United, Joyful, and in Prayer." I could list dozens of verses that show the power of prayer and would compel all of us to get on our knees and talk with Almighty God.

The second building block is a loving heart. The love of God has been poured into our hearts by the Holy Spirit (Romans 5:5). Why? So, we can love others. The Bible says when Jesus saw the multitudes in need He had compassion on them. If we build something for our own glory, we labor in vain. But, if we are more equipped to share Christ with lost souls because of a new Athletic Center or Football Stadium, then it can't be completed soon enough. God is love, and we are to be imitators of God.

The third building block is willing hands. Calvary Christian Academy is filled with men and women who live to serve. Jon Bunch, Harry Mucerino, Lisa Stephenson, Noelle Reis, Kathy Shashaty, Steve Hornsby... the list goes on. A building program takes many people willing to sacrifice for their children, your children, and the young men and women that will experience a spiritual transformation after visiting the campus at CCA.

Are you in? Pray...Love...Serve! Your commitment will have eternal ramifications.

Christ-honoring Perfection

Have you ever asked the question, "Are my attitude and actions on the field or court bringing glory to the Lord?", "Is Jesus honored by how I play?", or "Does God care if I win or reach my maximum potential?" The integration of Christian beliefs and biblical truths with athletic competition is commonly misunderstood. The Bible tells us "whatever you do, do it heartily." But how hard do I go, how intense is my focus, how passionately do I pursue my personal best? God's Word says it best in 1 Corinthians 9:24, "Run in such a way as to get the prize."

Wes Neal, the founder and president of Champion of Excellence and author of Handbook for Athletic Perfection, says,

"The perfect athletic performance is a result of the Holy Spirit developing you into the likeness of Jesus through your athletics. The attitudes and actions of Jesus Christ are yours when you are controlled by the Holy Spirit. The [power] of His attitudes and actions will develop your athletic ability to the maximum potential for which God has designed it."

Jesus Christ needs to be the center of your athletic life and Wes claims that if you learn to fellowship with Jesus during your athletic performance, you will experience a deeper walk with Him in all other areas of your life.

Perseverance

Sophomore catcher Taylor Gushue broke a 5-5 tie in the bottom of the 10th inning with a walk-off RBI single, scoring Emilio DeSilva to lead Calvary Christian over Coral Springs 6-5 in the championship game of the Colts First Pitch Classic on Saturday.

Gushue finished 4 for 4 with three RBI and hit his third home run of the season to dead center field in the third inning for the Eagles (3-0).

A few innings before the dramatic finish, a foul tip ripped the thumbnail off Taylor's throwing hand. But, the next inning Taylor threw out a runner at third base preventing the go-ahead run. Later, Taylor took another foul ball off his other thumb. So, delivering the game winning hit with pain in both hands is a story of perseverance that will become part of Taylor's character.

Paul in Romans 5:3-4 encourages all of us to endure trials and tribulations, to actually rejoice, knowing these challenges will produce perseverance; "and perseverance, character; and character, hope." Your character is being shaped by how you handle life's difficulties. Do you have a steady persistence in spite of obstacles or discouragement?

Perseverance is impossible unless you have faith. Verse 1 in Romans 5 says, "justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ...and rejoice in hope of the glory of God." Faith gives freedom and confidence to overcome. Faith leads to triumph. Faith in Jesus means eternal hope and salvation. Is your faith in Christ the Lord? Are you equipped to persevere?

Flat Steve

On Friday and Saturday, I had the privilege of watching the CCA wrestling team compete at Cardinal Gibbons for the Regional Championship. Jahlani Callender and Dominick Pierre won their weight class and will advance to the State Finals as Regional Champs. Anthony Schneider placed fourth and will also advance to the State competition. I learned a few things about the sport of wrestling including the "head and arm" and the "ankle grab".

But it's what I learned about "Flat Steve" that inspired me the most. Flat Steve is only a paper cut-out with the face of wrestling coach Steve Williams on a popsickle stick. Coach Michelangelo Lima explained that the team asks people to pose for a picture with Flat Steve giving them an opportunity to introduce themselves and share their faith in Jesus with them. This may happen as they wait around between matches or at a local food court during the lunch break.

Yesterday, just prior to Jahlani and Dominick wrestling for the championship, the team went to the Galleria for lunch. And instead of wandering around the mall, the coaches encouraged the wrestlers to take Flat Steve and "share their faith". A few shoppers said they were Christians, some were not interested, and some asked for prayer.

Christ was not only glorified on the mat, He was King of their day. What an awesome example of athletes engaging in outreach and coaches teaching what being a champion is all about. Thanks Flat Steve and thank you Jesus!

Hugs, Humility, and Honor

Here's a story from Bob Ostrander, Head Softball Coach/CCA Middle School,

God put it in my heart to bring the girl's together by having them hug one another everyday. When they see each other in the hall they have to hug...to see this occur and to see the true affection that is growing amongst themselves is why I love coaching. They are truly sharing the love of God that He pours out on them. Also, Haley Cilurso is one of my 3 captains and we had 4 jackets to pass out. Two pitchers each got one and so that left two to be divided amongst the three captains. Haley let it go to Dalana and I let her know how much I appreciated her Godly character and for that I wanted [to reward her.] I think this will be a great lesson for all the girls that when we show humility ( Jesus greatest quality) - honor always follows, AMEN! By the way, one mother came up to me already and said that her daughter was not getting along with another girl on the team but because of the constant hugging, they are actually liking one another according to the daughter, Praise God!

What if? What if it was just that simple? Unity through hugs and kindness and generosity and service and smiles... unity through LOVE! The Bible says in John 13:34-35, "love one another; as I have loved you... By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another."

I remember an old book that said, "Love is... a warm blanket." Can I tell you that real love is... while we were still sinners Christ died for us. I challenge you to love others in the same way, sacrificially giving up your life to preserve another. I challenge you follow the example of our middle school softball players and HUG!

Big Props, Big Win, Big Green!

Big props to the cast and crew of "The Wizard of Oz". The play put on by the students at Calvary Christian Academy this weekend was fantastic. The acting and the costumes and the dancing and the voices were all "Broadway" caliber. But the best part was Dorthy realizing she had "access" all along to go back to Kansas through the power of ruby slippers, the same way we all have "access" to heaven through the power of the red blood that was shed by Jesus Christ on the cross at Calvary. I also love the parallel that along the "yellow brick road" of life, brains, heart, and courage are gifts from God and will guide us through life.

On Friday, the CCA boy's varsity basketball team had a BIG win against the lions of Westminster Academy. Down by four points after the third quarter, the team erupted with 30 points in the fourth quarter to win by 10. Ben Mayell led the Eagles with 35 points and 8 assists. Shawn Lashbrook added seven points and 10 rebounds. It was quite a show.

Another exciting time coming up for these players will be on April 1st, when they embark on a 10 day mission trip to North Africa. They, along with CCA Director of Football Trent Gamble, will teach and play basketball, and share the truth and love of Jesus, in the predominately Muslim country of Morocco. On Friday, March 12th, we'll play the annual "Night of Champions" to help support their journey.

Finally, in a week filled with celebration, I'm honored to announce Dominick Pierre, a senior at CCA, will attend Dartmouth in the fall. Dominick will be the first Calvary Christian Academy student to attend an Ivy League school. He will also play football for the Big Green. Dominick's humble yet competitve spirit, his relationship with his mother, Marie Jones, and his commitment to live for Christ will serve him well in the classroom and on the gridiron.

"I, the LORD, will hold your hand"

Isaiah 42:6 says, "I, the LORD, have called You in righteousness, And will hold Your hand." The Lord God who created the heavens and the earth and gave breath to you and me has called us to be a light and "to open blind eyes". And, He promises to hold our hand and keep us, and set us apart to rescue those in darkness.

2010 has started out to be a test for many of our CCA friends and family on many different levels. Whatever your degree of disappointment, might I remind you and comfort you with this promise, the God of all creation is right next to you, holding your hand. He loves you. God loves you! God loves me! And, He's called us to press on. He's called us to be a light regardless of our circumstance.

Last week our varsity girl's soccer team lost in the district semi-finals 1 - 0 in the second overtime. It was an incredible game and our girl's and coaches should be very proud. After the game the teams prayed together, and as the parents looked on, you could sense some feelings of disappointment that are natural after a tough match. But, I rejoice in knowing that these young ladies know that they're called to be more than just great soccer players. They've been called by Almighty God to be a light in a dark world. They took the opportunity to share the gospel during a very emotional time. They may not have made the finals, but hearts may have been transformed for all eternity. And I, along with the others parents, couldn't have been prouder.

New Year, same mission

CCA Athletics and Calvary Chapel Fort Lauderdale have a common calling to go and "make disciples." Pastor Bob says we have been commissioned to partner with God in leading others to a life of faithfully following in the steps of the Savior Jesus Christ.

How do we do this in athletics? Read, Pray, Serve.

The Scriptures provide all we need to equip others to walk with God. As Pastor Bob described this weekend, the Bible shows us the way to live, the how to decide, and the what to think. The Word of God is our playbook and coaching manual.

Prayer gives us access to the power of the Holy Spirit. God's Spirit gives us the guidance, wisdom, conviction, and confidence we need to lead and disciple others. Here's a shot from the post game prayer between CCA and Coral Springs Christian Academy.

Finally, we need to set an example for all believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith, and in purity. We need to encourage regular interaction with God's family. And, we need to help those who can't help themselves. God wants to share His heavenly resources with those who can't help themselves.

2010 brings hope of new opportunity, but reminds us to remain steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord (1 Cor. 15:58). See you at the Finish!

Getting personal

Our staff devotion and coaches training this week focused on an intimate and personal relationship with Jesus. As we celebrate the birth of our Savior by getting together with family and friends, don't forget to spend some "alone time" with Christ the Lord. This should be a daily discipline, but all too often the worries and events of the day cause us to skip the one thing that will enpower and protect us.

Another suggestion to keep the holy days bright is to focus on others. If you're a Christian, you already have everything you need. Try giving the gift of eternal life to every one of your family and friends who has yet to receive Jesus as Lord. They may not "accept" it, but you should at least offer, hence the word present.

Neal Sevant scored one goal for CCA against a much older Hillel team. At the end of the game one of the players from the other team wanted to pray with Coach Licata and accepted Christ!

What you may not know is that Hillel is a Hebrew school. But, coach Licata purposed in his heart to get personal and invited all the players to pray. Most of them did not, but for the one who did, it will be a Christmas to remember.

Outreach 5K Run/Walk 2009

Tha Calvary Chapel Outreach 5K Run/Walk exceeded expectations. The Oasis HIVAIDS ministry and Calvary Christian Academy Athletics joined together with almost 600 people for an awesome day of fitness, food, and fellowship. Our goal was to host a 5K run "set apart" from all the rest. We focused on the ministries at Calvary Chapel and sharing the love of Christ with all the participants.

Steve and Donna Savage were excited to share about their calling to serve those stricken with HIVAIDS and the work being done at the All Saints AIDS Camp in the Bahamas. Many people stopped by their tent to learn more about the ministry, and one person even offered them the use of their plane to help with travel.

I was able to highlight some of the God-stories that occured in athletics this fall like the fifteen or so players and coaches praying after a football game to receive Jesus as their Lord and Savior . Like the volleyball team who spent time at a convalescent home, the golf team who served at the Refuge, or boys basketball team who distributed food before Thanksgiving with Love Out Loud. Our discipleship plan is clear, testifying to the gospel of God's grace, serving others, and reconciling those who are seperated from His amazing love.

Thanks to Pastor Bob for allowing us to have the Outreach Run on campus and for making available all of the church's resources and essentially closing down the campus for this one event. Thanks to Pastor Fidel for opening the race with prayer and for challenging all the runners to remember "why are you running today?" Thanks to Pastor Chet for going without sleep to fly over from the Bahamas to share his heart and tell us that there is more work to be done over in the Bahamas. Thanks to Pastor Greg for encouraging all of us to get involved in small groups, especially the FCA Endurance Team. Thanks to Pastor Billy and Pastor Jorge for "making connections" with the body.

Thanks to David Savatelli and the entire CCA advancement team (especially Karen Bakos and Ceri Usmar) and the scores of CCA parents, teachers, and administrators who volunteered their time and gave generously of their resources to the glory of God (especially Laura, Tami, Kathy, Lisa, Noel, Cindy, Wendy, and Keith for coordinating the volunteers, sponsors, communications, and t-shirts). Thanks to all the CCA sport teams for running and representing Christ "at all times." To all who ran or walked to support this Outreach, thank you.

Special thanks to John Bunch in the parking ministry for setting up the course, monitoring thr gates, and keeping everyone safe. To Matt Hickman, Kevin Lotterman, and the facilities team who coordinated all the trucks, tents, tables, toliets, and trash. To Carolina Wiebe for the incredible course and race day logistics. And to Gregg Mucerino and his dad, Harry, for their servants heart and for setting up the sound, water stations, and overseeing the food vendors.

Finally, thanks be to God our King for the great weather, for the joy and peace that comes from "running" in the Spirit, and for sending His Son to die on the cross so we might be saved.

Christ's provision... for that we're all thankful.

We started the year praying Psalm 90:17, "May the favor of the Lord our God rest upon us; establish the work of our hands for us- yes, establish the works of our hands." And now as we look back and see all that He has provided, we give thanks.

Christ's provision meets all our needs. His Word gives us everything we need for life and for godliness. His Spirit gives us the authority and power to change the world. And, His amazing love never fails to comfort us.

After Friday's regional final football game against American Heritage Delray, we all needed some encouragement. I received a call from our Certified Athletic Trainer, Cori Thompson, regarding an injury to Greg Mabin. He seperated his shoulder in the game, but according to the doctor, Cori was able to "pop" it back in place preventing futher damage. Cori told Mr. Mabin that she felt God had His hand on this team the entire season and this was just another example of His provision.

I'm sure thankful God brought us Cori and has blessed us with His transforming presence this season. Now it's time to press on, to learn more about Christ and the power He offers, and to continue to offer ourselves as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God.

Start sharing your story, start conveying your conviction

Last week's challenge was to "hold nothing back that was helpful." Pastor Bob's teaching this weekend emphasized sharing our story with others and conveying our convictions, and he emphasized starting today. I received an email this week that concurred with his message and exhorted all of us to be radical, revolutionary, and relentless in sharing our testimony and the truth about eternal life.

Our Head Soccer Coach for the varsity girls, Marcel Bombonato, understands the importance of taking every opportunity to share the gospel. Here's his report after Monday's match against Coral Springs Charter:

After the game we invited the guest team to a short devotional... at first the coach did not understand why, but after our team mixed with the opposing team, the coach gathered as well. Captain and Senior Meghan Mason led devotional/gospel presentation followed by CCA coach's speech and prayer. The guest school participated in the prayer and some players had an opportunity to fellowship and exchange personal info. Our attitude was the same, whether we won the game or not, we are in Love with Jesus, our race is to win 'more' for him not the final score!

Are you taking every opportunity to share your story and convey your convictions? Does your team or family know your heart? Have you told them how God has changed your life? Have you warned them about the consequences of disobedience? When was the last time you simply told someone, "Jesus loves you, and He's got a plan for your life?"

Start today!

Hindsight is 20-20 (Acts 20:20)

Hindsight is the recognition of the possibilities of a situation after its occurance. Too often people see others going in the wrong direction or bordering on disobedience, and they fail to confront them. Paul says in Acts 20:20,

"I kept back nothing that was helpful, but proclaimed it to you, and taught you publicly."

I challenged all of our coaches to hold nothing back. If they see selfish behavior, they should correct, rebuke, and encourage the right behavior immediately. Just as coaches address mistakes on the field as soon as they recognize them, we need to confont spiritual and social shortcomings as soon as we see them. Paul says in Acts 20:27,

"I have not shunned to declare to you the whole counsel of God."

Paul understood that everything matters. Little things turn into bigger things. We've all experienced that truth in our lives. Our ministry as leaders, coaches, and parents is to share those experiences with young people so they don't go down the same path. Our goal is to get them on the right path, so they can experience the blessings of walking in obedience. In athletics, we tell our players to leave it all on the field. Are you willing to help our youth understand God's will for their lives?

Love the LORD your God

Last week a CCA golfer shot the fifth lowest round in the regional finals, but his hopes to advance to the state finals were dashed when he lost in a playoff. The 6th ranked Eagles (#1 in offense) were defeated by Melborne Central Catholic (ranked 3rd in the state) on senior day.  The volleyball team lost to WA in the district finals. It was a very emotional week. How will the teams react? How does one deal with the highs and lows in sports?

The Bible says to love the LORD your God with all your heart, soul, and strength and your hope will be restored (Deut. 6:3-4).  Stay focused on what God has called and commanded you to do and you'll turn difficult circumstances into opportunities for growth.

This week is Homecoming. We'll have various activites to heighten school spirit. We'll honor our football team, cheerleading squad, and alumni at the pep rally.  We'll travel to Benjamin for the volleyball regional quarter finals on Wednesday. And, we'll play for the 1A district championship on Friday against American Heritage Delray. But, our focus will remain the same - "making disciples", teaching our athletes that win or lose, we will continue to love and obey with everything we have.

Outreach

A good definition of an outreach can be found in 2 Cor. 5:15-21. Paul says have no regard for yourself or for the things of this world, but instead live for Christ and bring others to Him. God made it possible for everybody to have a relationship with Him through Christ and has given us the ministry of reconciliation - telling the world that their sins have been paid for and life has been restored.

"He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him."

Sharing this good news and the love of Jesus is what outreaches at CCA are all about. Calvary Chapel Fort Lauderdale Outreaches like The Final Hour, Love Out Loud, or the CCFL Outreah 5K Run/Walk on December 5th are solely orchestrated to bring others to Christ and support the continued mission of "making disciples".

On December 12th, the CCA cheerleaders will embark on an outreach of their own. The cheerleaders will bring Christmas gifts to a Miami homeless shelter, do arts and crafts, and cheer for them. The director of the shelter said, "the kids would love that." They also plan to share the gospel by reading the Bible and sharing the true meaning of Christmas.

I pray that we will never grow tired of "making disciples" and our impact on this campus and in our community would be glorifying to our Lord Jesus Christ. Realizing God allows us to participate in "His divine nature and escape the corruption of this world" should keep us humble and focused on others.

"It's not what you do, it's who you are"

What's your reputation? What are you known for? In Titus 1:5-9, Paul gives us his reason for living. As a servant of God, committed to obey God, Paul spent his life telling others about Christ. This was who Paul was. I encourage you to go through these verses (Titus 1:5-9) and notice that the leadership qualifications involve character, not knowledge or skill.

Last week, a parent from The King's Academy called to say she was so impressed with the football teams sportsmanship and attitude that she had to call. She congratulated the team on a well played game, but what got her attention was one of our players approaching her son after the game to have a conversation. She said she looked around and all the players were partnered off talking to each other. I told her they were praying and briefly described the "one-on-one connection" discipleship plan. She said she had never seen anything like this before. Even though we probably won the biggest game in the history of CCA, it's our character that will be remembered.

Here's an email I received this week from our Middle School football coach,

Chris, the coach from Ransom Everglades 6th grade football team, asked if I was involved with Athletics. He proceeded to tell me that he has been dealing with Calvary for the past three years and has always been so impressed with how we treat the people who visit for an athletic event and how we always make sure the right perspective is given. He asked me to make sure our athletic department knew that and was very thankful. Then he said that we have been a great witness and that was coming from a team that has many Jewish families.

Finally, on Thursday, Dominick Pierre was interviewed on 560 WQAM because he was named the high school player of the week. His stats were very impressive (6 touchdowns, over 300 yards rushing and receiving), but what was most noticeable was the class with which he conducted himself on the air. He thanked the Lord, he thanked his mom, and he thanked his teammates. Dominick is self-controlled, upright, holy, and disciplined.

I pray this reminder that "it's not what you do, it's who you are" will encourage us to think less about ourselves and more about our relationship with Jesus.

It's not over till it's over

Leading by 21 points late in the fourth quarter is a good feeling. It may even be a good time to relax and start concentrating on some other task. Well, if you witnessed the finish to last Friday's football game against Pope John Paul II, you know what I mean when I say, "it's not over till it's over."

The score was 47 - 26 with only a few minutes left in the game, but the enemy kept attacking. They scored once, recovered an on-side kick, scored again, recovered an onside kick, and with 14 seconds to go, on a field so dark the referees turned the offense around so the last play would be directed toward a light in the parking area, the QB scrambled and as the time expired, he launched a desperation pass to an uncovered receiver standing on the 5 yard line, who ran it in for the score. All the other team had to do to pull off the "impossible" comeback was kick the extra point and the game would have been tied. Fortunately, for the CCA Eagles, their parents, and their fans the extra point was "no good". CCA won 47-46.

I, along with the faithful crowd who endured the 3 hour and 20 minute game, felt excited to win, relieved we didn't lose, and curious about how this game got to be so close. Was it too dark to see? Did the other team play really well in the fourth quarter? Or, did we simply lose focus and fail to execute down the stretch?

One thing we do know is the Christian walk can be just like this football game. Just when things get comfortable and we start to feel good about our effort (and not the work of the Lord), darkness creeps in and the enemy has an opportunity to defeat us. As Christians, we need to put on the armor of God and be prepared to battle until the clock shows 00:00 (or the final trumpet sounds). Disciples of Jesus can never let up. There can't be a day when we say, "I don't need to rely on Christ. I don't need to pray about my kids today. I don't need to pray about how to use my time." (Search Light, John Courson)

Let me encourage all of us to stand firm in the faith, be on guard, and be strong, especially if you think the battle is over. In this world we will face trials and tribulations daily, but the good news is Jesus has overcome this world and the final battle IS over. Jesus has won and offers ALL who believe an eternity of victories.

It's a miracle!

These past few weeks the entire CCA family has been praying for miracles - medical, spiritual, and physical. We asked the Lord to provide lungs for Rick Hornsby, to prepare the hearts of those who don't know Jesus, and to provide protection and valor for our football team as they played The King's Academy.

Just after noon time on Friday, we received news that a lung had become available for Rick (who had been on the donor list for only a few weeks). And, later we found out that he would actually receive two lungs. This was the beginning of a miraculous day.

Last year The King's Academy beat our football team 63-0. This year the game may have been the greatest football experience in CCA history. With the team trailing by 16 points with around four minutes to play, the Eagles mounted a "miraculous" comeback. Tying the score with less than a minute to play and then winning in overtime, our young men will never forget how they pushed aside their fears, trusted God and each other, and triumphed 44-41.

But, if you've been following this blog, the God story continues to be about our mission to "Make Disciples" - raising up men and women willing to deny themselves daily, take up their cross, and follow Jesus. When our players pray with the opposing team after a very emotional game and share the gospel, it puts what we've been called to do first. I am so thankful for the team's commitment to represent Christ "at all times". God continues to perform miracles... when people pray!

A rare eagle

On Thursday, the CCA boys varsity golf team improved their record to 9 wins and 1 loss with a victory over Coral Springs Christian and Westminster Academy. Coach Fanning sent in this report,

God Moment: Johnny Jones made an EAGLE on the PAR 4 8th hole. Johnny holed it from 185 yards with a 3 wood!

Getting a two on a hole which usually requires four shots is a rare accomplishment, and I'm sure Johnny and his teammates were very excited. But, the reason this is a God story has nothing to do with the team's record or the shot that when in the hole.

You see, three days before that match, Johnny's dad was telling me at CCA's "Back to School Night" that Johnny was thrilled to be sharing the gospel with his opponents while he was competing against them on the golf course. He was living out the athletic department's discipleship challenge to make one-on-one connections, faithfully administering God's grace. Now, that's something to get excited about. So, this week's EAGLE AWARD goes to Johnny Jones... not so rare if you know Johnny.

Give it your all

So often in athletics we hear coaches encouraging athletes to "give it their all". The Bible teaches if we want to follow Christ we must "surrender all". And, this Friday when CCA celebrates it's 10th year, the theme of "CCA - 2 GR8R HEIGHTS" comes from Dueteronomy 6:5 which implores us to "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength."

But, what does "all" look like? Can we truly give enough of ourselves to make a difference? That will depend upon what you are full of. If you are full of pride, fear, and self, your "all" is insufficient. If your heart, soul, and strength has been penetrated, saturated, and enpowered by the Holy Spirit, and you are willing to deny yourself, take up your cross daily, and follow Jesus, then your "all" will impact your life as well as others around you.

This year the basketball program has adopted Luke 9:23 (quoted above) as the team verse. My prayer is for the players to clothe themselves in humility and to be filled with the Spirit, so when they give their all, Christ will be exalted. What does your all look like? It depends on who you love and what's in your heart.

Set an example

Thanks to all the Calvary Christian faithful who came out after a frightening thunderstorm last night and witnessed a very solid performance by the football team who defeated visiting Southside Christian 37 - 14. But, this week's God story isn't about the football team or about the weather. It's about the girls varsity volleyball team.

Yes, the team is 4 - 1. And, yes, they have many dominant players. But, it's the outreach and ministry off the court that is starting to "set an example" for others teams to follow. After Saturday morning's workout, the girl's visited for the second time the Grand Court Village, a local convalesent home.

Spending time with those in need is what God has called us to do. Not only does it brighten up the day for those who rarely receive visitors, but it put's life in perspective as our girl's ponder health, wealth, and companionship.

I'm proud of our coaching staff and our girls for setting an example in conduct and in love. Service aces, digs, blocks, and kills may receive the applause and the headlines, but sharing the love of Christ with someone in need and putting others first is discipleship and at CCA... "that's what we do!"

"...time to do the Lord's work"

After enduring more than an hour rain delay, the CCA football fans were treated to a very exciting, offensively charged football game last Friday at Pine Crest. Parents, teachers, and some very enthusiastic students filled the stands in support of the players and coaches. But, again, it's the action after the game that has the fans focusing on the middle of the field.

As the clock was running out, Pastor Topher over heard Sean Lashbrook telling another player, "Now it's time to do the Lord's work." In what is becomming the most watched play of the night, the CCA players and coaches make one on one connections with the opposing team and pray. Even the fans pause their post game planning and evaluations and begin to pray for the ministry at hand. God is doing a mighty work in the hearts of our players, and their obedience "AT ALL TIMES" is having an impact for Christ not only on CCA's campus, but in schools across the state.

Brandon Knight, the nation's top basketball prospact and Pine Crest student, attended last Friday's game. He wore a Nike t-shirt with the word "WITNESS" written accross the chest. Usually, this refers to watching, or being an eye witness to, someone with exceptional talent or skill. As I watched the Spirit of the Lord work in the middle of the football field, I was so thankful to be a "witness" to that which holds eternal rewards.

Making Disciples

CCA football hosted Inlet Grove on Friday in a preseason Kickoff Classic. The team played well, but it's what happened after the game that answers the question, "What's God doing in athletics?" Here's an email I received from Coach Trent Gamble following Friday's game:

"The guys did a great job today in the game and after. In our one on one connection, 2 coaches received the Lord and two of our kids led two of their kids to the Lord from the opposing team. One of our kids said three of them were close but not ready, but was able to challenge them. One of our players, Dominick, did the gospel with both teams in the middle and we had a chance to pray with everyone. It was really good to see the vision come together."

A parent walked by me after the game and said when she saw the players praying with the other team that it was the coolest thing she ever saw and that it made her day. Hopefully, that's something parents will say more and more at Calvary Christian Academy. Our mission at CCA in all departments is to Make Disciples for Jesus Christ.

Trent Gamble's vision for "one-on-one connections" after the football game is having eternal ramifications. Trent believes that the time spent competing against the other team provides the players with a relationtionship built on honor and mutual respect. After each game, a CCA player shares the Gospel and then our players (and our coaches) find the athlete they were matched up against and offer to pray for them. And, as you read earlier, a few had the opportunity to lead souls to Christ.

Trent views every football game as an outreach, a platform to complete the task of testifying to the Gospel of God's grace. His spiritual focus puts his athletic passion (football) in the proper perspectice. What are you focused on? Why do you do what you do? Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and I'll see you at the finish!

Leadership

One of our goals this year is to strengthen the discipleship of CCA staff and students. Coach Trent Gamble challenged his football players to "follow Christ at all times" during the first two weeks of practice. On the field the players were tested physically battling heat and exhaustion. Off the field they were strecthed spiritually, disciplining themselves to go before the Lord and grow in their faith.

Each player was given a daily assignment in God's Word and after two weeks, Coach Gamble selected six players to be the small group leaders for the rest of the year. They are Dominique Pierre, Kyle Whitley, Alex Garner, RJ Barnett, Kyle Lee, and Geoff Gregory.

Coach Gamble said, "they will be held to the standard of a leader and I am looking forward to seeing them grow and to seeing them lead on and off the field. Please keep all of these guys in prayer as I know they will be tempted and challenged." 2 Timothy 2:2 says. "commit (the things you have heard from God's Word) to faithful men who will be able to teach others also." Coach Gamble gets it! These six football players get it.

A week before school starts and the pace around the athletic department has quickened. We're busy finalizing schedules, officials, equipment, transportation and the dozens of other details that affect our 16 teams that will participate at CCA this fall. And, I'm sure our administrators, teachers, coaches, moms, dads, and students are feeling the same pressures preparing for a new school year.

Turning to the only source for answers and peace, the Bible says in Acts 20:24 "if only I may finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me - the task of testifying to the gospel of God's grace." It was Paul's single mindedness that made him the greatest missionary of all time.

Psalm 27:4 says, "One thing I ask the Lord, this is what I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the Lord and to seek him in his temple." Pastor Mark used this verse yesterday at the "Born for More" men's conference held at Calvary Chapel Fort Lauderdale to make the point that career satisfaction and personal success come from simplifying things and narrowing the focus.

Colossians 3 tells us to set our hearts and minds on things above. This means STOP STRESSING OUT and focus on what God has called us to do...make disciples. Seek first His kingdom and God will take care of the rest.

My name is Dana Ridenour and I'm the new Athletic Director at Calvary Christian Academy. One of the most important ingredients in building a successful program is crystal clear communication. This blog entitled "what's God doing in athletics?" will give you an inside look into the ministry at CCA we call athletics. It's intended to go beyond the stats and records that can be found on our website www.ccaeagles.org, and simply report the incredible God stories that happen each week at CCA. I will report on everything from team outreaches in the community to personal testimonies of changed lives right here on campus. My prayer for myself, my team, all the administrators and pastors, all the players, and all the parents is that God would give us complete knowledge of his will and give us spiritual wisdom and understanding and that this blog, the athletic program, and the entire CCA family would honor and please the Lord.
